American audio company Bose has created a modified version of its earbuds, designed to sit in the ear more solidly than ever before. The StayHear tips have an extra piece of silicon that fits into the upper ridge, preventing the buds from moving.
In addition, and to complement, the company has launched three new in-ear headsets for normal, phone, and Apple device use.
The first, the IE2, is a standard two bud design without a microphone, so is best suited to an iPod or other MP3 player. It uses an enhanced version of Bose's proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure, designed to make music sound more natural, with the emphasis on detail and clarity, especially with high frequencies.
Created for users of a large array of mobile devices, including many BlackBerry handsets and, of course, the iPhone, the MIE2 is nigh-on identical to its stablemate, except it adds an in-line microphone and one-touch answer/end call button to the mix.
Something that's repeated with the MIE2i, although this particular iteration of the technology is Apple-specific. It has been designed to work seamlessly with many of the Cupertino company's devices, including the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and MacBook Pro computers, as its microphone adds functionality to help access voice applications, and control the volume.
All of the headsets will be available online at www.bose.co.uk and in shops (including Bose stores) from 18 October. The IE2 will retail for £89, while both the MIE2 and MIE2i will be £119 apiece.
