LG 31-inch OLED TV prepped for IFA?

New televisions to be shown at German trade show

LG 31-inch OLED TV prepped for IFA?

18 August 2010 23:49 GMT / By Stuart Miles

With just weeks to go before the tech world descends on IFA in Berlin, Germany, to see what the likes of Sony, Samsung, Philips, and LG are launching, word is coming out that LG will be touting a new 31-inch OLED television at the show.

Currently LG sells a 15-inch model in the UK, but according to OLED-display.net LG Electronics is about to showcase something bigger, a lot bigger in fact.

It is claiming that the company will show off a new 31-inch OLED-TV, a 72-inch 3D-LED-TV, and the world's thinnest LCD-TV that will be just 7mm thick at the show.

At 31 inches that makes it one of the largest  LG Electronics sets, and double the size of the EL9500 OLED-TV it current sells for £1700.

The rumours do fit in with what George Mead, LG's UK marketing manager, told Pocket-lint back in April:

"What we hope to see, though, is LG moving into larger OLED TVs in the near future, and, hopefully, in time, we'll see the price points come down as they reach a wider audience".

"It's not going to stop at 15ins", revealed George at the time in our exclusive interview. "We will look at how we can develop larger screen sizes. There's nothing confirmed yet, but I think in the near future we will see larger TVs available".

Looks like the time for those big screens might be any day now.
