Virgin Media teams up with Alcatel for VM202 budget handset

Could be the perfect cheap handset ahead of V Festival

Virgin Media teams up with Alcatel for VM202 budget handset

With less than a week to go before the V Festival kicks off, Virgin Media has perhaps chosen the perfect time to announce its budget Alcatel VM202 handset.

After all, you wouldn't want your £599 iPhone 4 to fall into the mud whilst you're moshing to The Prodigy over at the 4 Music stage.

But, at £29.99 you probably wouldn't mind if you lost this entry level handset, especially if Keith and the boys play some of the old classics.

The phone, which is available in a bright "dazzle pink" colour, has a full slider QWERTY keyboard as well as a numeric keypad.

It has dedicated access to all of the top social networks and email clients so you'll be able to update your pals about what bands you've seen and how much cider you've consumed with ease.

It comes with a 1GB microSD card, so you'll also be able to save a decent sized V Festival play-list for playing back around the campsite.

Jonathan Kini, director of mobile at Virgin Media said:

"The VM202 is a great new addition to our pay-as-you-go range and we’re delighted to be first to bring this stylish, affordable device to our customers.

"With easy access to Facebook and Twitter plus great multimedia features, the handset is perfect for teenage socialites on the go or as a great messaging device for existing Virgin Media families to take advantage of with huge call savings to be made with free calls between Virgin home phones and Virgin Mobiles".

The phone is available now directly from Virgin for £29.99. Top up £10 and you'll also get 300 free texts as well.
