The Dell Streak is a great hybrid slate/phone device, but therein lies its problem as well - it's not quite sure what it is and people might be put off by its identity crisis.

If only there was a device like the Dell Streak, with plenty of screen real estate but perhaps not quite such a big screen?

Well, it looks as if the Dell Thunder could be that very device, if this leaked video of it is anything to go by.

The video shows off a prototype of the device running Android 2.1 (but this would probably be 2.2 or, who knows, maybe even 3.0 by the time of launch).

It has a 4.1-inch OLED screen with an 800 x 480 resolution, and reports state that it has an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and is also capable of shooting 720p video.

Pocket-lint has reported on the Dell Thunder before, back in April, when it was snapped alongside the Dell Lightning - a similar looking phone with supposed Windows Phone 7 objectives as well as the Dell Flash and Dell Smoke.

Hopefully, this latest leak means that these phones are on course over at the Dell labs and we could be seeing more revelations soon.

The video hints at a Q4 2010 release.
