Another digital compact for the summer lineup: Sanyo's Xacti VPC-S60, a 6MP camera.

This basic compact features a 2.5-inch LCD on the back and a touch sensor shutter button that responds to slight pressure to lock the focus.

Its macro capabilities let you get within 5cm of your subject, while the buffer can handle 2.5 frames per second for a sequence of four shots.

In video mode, the S60 can shoot VGA-size video clips that can be viewed directly from the camera on a monitor via an AV cable.

The 3x optical, 4x digital zoom is standard in this type of compact, but unusually, the S60 features in-camera interpolation to nearly-double the number of pixels to 10.2MP.

Pocket-lint is awaiting confirmation of the UK release date.
