Denon is hoping that there are a few people out there looking to update their living room entertainment options, who like the idea of killing two birds with one stone.
Because not only is the Denon D-X1000BD a Blu-ray player, it is also an all-in-one music system capable of playing CDs as well as providing a couple of USB ports - at the front and round the back - for direct iPod/iPad/iPhone playback.
Kicking off with the video aspect of the D-X1000BD - the machine has a Blu-ray player, as mentioned, with BD Live on board and it can, of course, play regular DVDs as well.
Sound is handled by a 70W output, across two channels and the speakers include the same technology employed in Denon’s renowned high-end CX stereo series. This means dual layer cone technology, with a ventilation hole for acoustic balance.
You can add a separate subwoofer to the system to make it a genuine 2.1 system, or you can make use of the Dolby Virtual Speaker, a signal processing technology that delivers 5.1-channel surround sound from just two speakers.
The Denon D-X1000BD is hitting the shops in September and will cost £800.
