Have you got your 3D glasses ready? Sky has confirmed that it will launch a 3D service for its customers who have 3D enabled televisions in the home, on the 1 October 2010.

The service, which will be available to any Sky+HD home that has invested in a 3D Ready TV, will come at no extra charge, with customers who subscribe to Sky’s top channel and HD pack receiving access to a wide range of 3D movies, entertainment and sports on what currently seems an ad hoc basis says Sky.

The broadcaster, who must be no doubt annoyed that it will miss the start of the new footie season, says launch weekend highlights will include coverage of the Ryder Cup and 3D movies Bolt, and Monster vs. Aliens.

The Sky 3D channel line-up will then continue to expand in the run-up to Christmas with a number of movie titles including: Alice in Wonderland, Ice Age - Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Coraline, Fly Me To The Moon, Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince and My Bloody Valentine already promised.

"We have already done deals with Disney, Fox, Universal, Warner Brothers, Paramount and DreamWorks to bring more movies in 3D to the home", says the broadcaster.

Not surprisingly considering its push into pubs already, Sky says it will also offer a range of live sport, including Premier League football, from launch.
