Samsung ST80: Wi-Fi makes it easy to share your snaps

28 July 2010 16:25 GMT / By Paul Lamkin

Samsung has got busy with its compact cameras as of late. Not only did it announce two additions to the 2View front and back facing screen range, it also revealed a new budget compact - the PL200.

And now, it has just sent us word of yet another compact camera - this one being the Wi-Fi connected Samsung ST80.

The spec and look of the ST80 is very similar to the PL200 - although you are only getting a 3x optical zoom to go with the 14.2-megapixels and 720p, 30fps, video shooting (the PL200 has a 7x zoom).

But, to compensate, you are getting a Wi-Fi enabled device that is not only able to email your videos and pics around the world, it can also directly upload your media to a number of  hosting sites such as Facebook, Picasa, YouTube and PhotoBucket.

Also, with the camera you'll get an account with Wi-Fi supplier Boingo, who has 120,000 hotspots all over the globe.

“We want to let people share their favourite pictures quickly while they’re on the move, and the ST80 does just that”, said Sangjin Park, president of the digital imaging business at  Samsung.

Indeed it does.

The camera is out in September and will cost you £199.99.
