Onkyo has revealed the details of two compact audio systems that it plans on releasing into the world in September.
The higher-end model of the two is the CS-1045DAB, which you can get for £700 with Onkyo's D-145 speakers, or for £600 without.
The CS-1045DAB is a veritable hub of audio activity with a CD player, 2-way speakers, DAB+ and FM radio, iPhone/iPad/iPod USB in (to a front port), AUX in, a MM phono stage, and it can also play MP3 and WMA files on a USB input.
It's the audiophile's compact - the tuner and amplifier uses the almost identical VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuit) technology and that you'll find in Onkyo's top-levelA-5VL stereo amplifier.
It's also got 24-bit/192kHz Burr-Brown stereo digital-to-analogue converter and a total output of 2 x 70w.
If £700 is a bit pricey for you, and you know that you'll be feeding most of your music to your compact straight from your iPod or iPhone then the CS-545UK may be the Onkyo model best suited for you.
It's £349 (with the D-045 speakers - £100 less without) and has an iPod dock on the top so as you can plug with Apple baby straight in.
It can still spin your old CDs as well, and it has USB in, AUX in and DAB+/FM radio all included too. Output is 2 x 50w, and for the price it obviously isn't quite as powerful as the CS-1045DAB.
Both systems are out in September and available in black and silver.
