PalmPad is a name you might have to get used to, following the news that HP has just filed a trademark for the phrase for a mobile computing device.
Presumably to be used for an upcoming webOS powered internet tablet from the company that is still mulling over whether or not to release the HP Slate. HP has filed a USPTO Trademark application on 9 July, listing the trademark and a fairly comprehensive list of possible categories:
Computers, computer hardware, computer software, computer peripherals, portable computers, handheld and mobile computers, PDAs, electronic notepads and mobile digital electronic devices.
HP is the latest company to add the word "Pad" to another word to come up with a competitive name against Apple's iPad. Samsung have the sPad, Asus the Eee Pad and MSI the WindPad.
And there was us thinking at the beginning of the year everything was going to be called "something" slate.
