Motorola Milestone XT720 hits online retailers

It may be an orphan in terms of an official carrier, but that hasn't prevented the Motorola Milestone XT720 from making its UK début.

Available SIM-free and unlocked, the sequel(ish) to the Motorola Milestone is based on the Motoroi.

The Motorola Milestone XTZ20 is an Android 2.1 device with a 3.7-inch, 480 x 854, touchscreen and is capable of shooting 720p video at 24fps. There's a HDMI out port so you can watch your videos back on your HDTV.

It is powered by a ARM Cortex-A8, 720MHz chip and it has 256MB of RAM.

For still images you're looking at an impressive 8-megapixel camera that comes with geo-location features, auto-focus, a Xenon flash, and has smile and face detection.

It has HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and it comes with Motonav mapping software onboard that uses the device's A-GPS features. This will be free for a 60-day period, but you'll have to subscribe if you want to keep on using it.

If you're a Milestone/Droid fan, there's no doubt that the XT720 might tempt you, but also bear in mind that we're expecting the Milestone 2/Droid 2 to be released soon as well. If you're a QWERTY lover, you may want to wait for the official sequel to keep your Milestone love affair going.

The price is available at various online retailers including Play (£359.99) and Clove (£381.88). The best price we've seen is £282.23, but that is from an American seller so you can assume you'd have to pay a fair bit of shipping. It's available to order now.
