Google receives its last batch of handsets to sell

Last chance to get a Nexus One from Google

17 July 2010 8:13 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Google has confirmed that it is almost out of stock of its Nexus One Android mobile phone, meaning that you'll have to act quickly if you don't want to have to go through the usual operator channels to get one.

Google first announced at the beginning of the year that it would be shaking up the tight grip that mobile phone operators had on customers by offering us the chance to buy it direct from them, albeit unsubsidised.

Fast forward 6 months and that didn't go quite as planned with Google now in the final clearance stages of shifting the last few boxes.

That doesn't mean to say that you'll be getting them any cheaper, just that if you want one from them you'll have to act quick.

"Earlier this year, we announced that we will be closing the Nexus One web store. This week we received our last shipment of Nexus One phones. Once we sell these devices, the Nexus One will no longer be available online from Google", the company said in a statement.

Those that have bought one already, don't panic, Google says "Customer support will still be available for current Nexus One customers".

Of course you will still be able to buy the Nexus One from a range of places including Vodafone here in the UK.
