Motorola hint at new range of mobiles called SCPL

New model supposedly on the cards

Reuters is reporting that Motorola is planning a new range of slim cell phones next year according to the head of its cell-phone division.

Ron Garriques, who heads Motorola's biggest division, said the range would follow in the same naming convention as the RAZR and be called the SCPL, pronounced "scalpel".

No details were given beyond describing the phones as thinner and with five features that would stand out from rival phones.

What those five features could be are currently anyone's guess, but some commentators suggest it could be anything from a music player to 3G.

This isn't the first time the name has been banded about. In July 2005 rumours surfaced that Motorola was about to launch an ultra thin phone by the same name.

We will keep you posted.
