Stop the world, we want to get off. If this is what we can expect from the future of food development then we want out now. There's no way we could stomach these Candwiches. Yep, candwiches. Canned sandwiches.

Available in three "delicious" varieties - strawberry jelly, peanut butter and grape jelly and BBQ Chicken - its makers claim that:

"Candwich is the perfect product for people on the go such as students, construction workers, soccer moms and outdoor enthusiasts. Unique packaging offers convenience and protection while backpacking, camping, biking, and other activities. Easy to store display - does not require refrigeration".

Remember that in the States jelly means jam. Not that a peanut butter and grape jam Candwich sounds any less disgusting than a peanut butter and grape jelly one.

We thought we'd include the Candwich as a bit of a light-hearted Friday fun story. But on second thoughts, there's nothing fun about gastroenteritis.

We've no scientific proof that these Candwiches would actually cause any sort of illness at all. In fact, they're probably completely safe.

But just look at the BBQ Chicken option and then tell us that if you ate something that looks like that it wouldn't cause you to have a few elongated spells on the throne.
