Sony Ericsson has capitalised on the success of its Xperia X10 range by unveiling a new Android handset - the Xperia X8.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 has a 3-inch, 320 x 480 HVGA, capacitive touchscreen and the UI is similar to the one that you'll find on the Xperia X10 Mini where you can use the Timescape functionality to see all your social networking updates from the likes of Twitter and Facebook.

There's a 3.2-megapixel camera with geotagging available, as well as direct uploading to Facebook. Connectivity wise, it supports GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900/2100, and there's also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on board.

There's a microSD slot (the built in memory is only 128MB) with a maximum load of 16GB - you'll get a 2GB card in the box when you buy the X8. With a 600MHz processor running Android 1.6 you're looking at a slick looking entry level Android handset.

It's available in five different colour combos - white, dark blue, aqua blue, pink and silver and will be out during Q3 2010.  

Sony Ericsson has also announced the arrival of a new handset for its Greenheart range, the Cedar.

The Cedar has the environment in mind, it's made from recycled plastics and its power consumption is lower than most other handsets. It's still got some fairly decent specs, however, the 3G connectivity should mean the social networking features work without too much bother and there's a 2-megapixel camera built in as well.

The Sony Ericsson Cedar, like the Xperia X8, is due out in Q3 2010 and you'll have a choice of either black and silver or black and red.

The final Sony Ericsson handset that has been announced is the Sony Ericsson Yendo with Walkman.

It's the first full touch Walkman phone. It has the four corners UI (like the Xperia X10s) with the Walkman phone experience all displayed on its 2.6-inch touchscreen.

And, just when you thought that there couldn't possibly be more Sony Ericsson news, we hit you with the announcement that the whole Xperia X10 range will be receiving Android 2.1 updates in Q3 2010. It's no Froyo we know, but it's still pretty good never-the-less.
