Nokia has just announced a new phone at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore, which is bound to appeal to anyone with a penchant for social networking.

The Nokia X5-01 is a square vertical slider and is expected to come in as a mid-range handset, boasting a QWERTY keyboard in keeping with its social messaging focus.

According to all about symbian, the S60 3rd edition handset is due for release in Indonesia sometime in Q3 at around 165 euros.

Specs of the Nokia include a 2.36-inch QVGA screen, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and an accelerometer - which enables a "spin to skip" feature, whereby spinning the phone skips the track. The phone will also get, an essential, 3.5mm headphone jack.

In terms of Connectivity there's Quadband GSM, Wi-Fi b/g and bluetooth 2.1.

Its square-ish dimensions are 74.3 x 66.4 x 16.8 mm, with a form factor reminiscent of the Microsoft Kin which also has social networking at its heart.
