The Sony RDP-X80iP is, according to Sony, their "best ever sounding speaker dock". It has been designed specifically for the UK, offering a portable dock which will give you 7 hours playback from the internal battery.
Sony suggested that this was ideal for taking outside to accompany your BBQ when we took a look at it at the launch today.
It measures 356 x 119 x 163mm and weighs 1.9kg, with a retractable iPod/iPhone dock at the front. Touch controls lay along the top and a remote offers control. A discrete LCD display in the top left-hand corner lets you know what is going on.
It comes equipped with five sound modes, so you can set it to suit your type of music and it offers 20W + 20W output. An aux-in will let you hook up any other MP3 player if you're aren't an Apple fan.
At first glance the X80 looks like many docks already on the market from the likes of Altec Lansing or Intempo, but whether this dock passes muster can only be decided when it hits the test bench.
We'll update the pricing when we have it.
