There are now 8,500 native iPad apps available on iTunes, reveals Steve Jobs during his WWDC10 keynote speech.

And, on average, 17 apps per iPad sold have been downloaded. It's "a great number," says Jobs. He also reveals that there is "tremendous interest from publishers of all kinds" in translating print publishing magazines and newspapers to iPad-friendly apps - citing the success of The Times paid-for version currently available.

Additionally, 2million iPads have been sold so far, one every 3 seconds, and the device will launch in a further 9 countries before the end of July.

Certainly, Apple is considering the iPad a massive success so far.
