Tech deals: F-Secure anti-theft for mobiles now free

Peace of mind for your mobile

4 June 2010 13:02 GMT / By Ben Crompton

Anti-virus company F-Secure is now allowing users to download its Anti-theft for mobile software absolutely free.

The software, which is compatible with Android, Windows Mobile and Symbian OSes, includes browsing protection against malware sites, along with the ability to lock the handset and wipe it remotely if it's lost or stolen.

You can also track the thief by way of GPS, if you're feeling like a hero, and if someone steals your phone and changes the SIM card, the phone locks down automatically and the thief’s phone number is reported to you.

All the features are activated via SMS, so all you have to do is borrow a mates handset and text the command you want followed by your personal code - very neat.

For have a closer look and a place to download follow this link to the F-Secure site.

UPDATE: Free version does not include browsing protection against malware sites.

Thanks Jason
