If, everyday, you log on to Pocket-lint only to be disappointed that there's no news about sound recorders then today is your lucky day. Because we've got two pieces of news to give to you in one post. Yep, a real doozy.

And not just any news either. Oh, no, no, no. This is big news. Well, actually it's very small news. But small big, not small small. You get us? Thought not. Read on for clarification.

First up is the news that Zoom has announced the Zoom H1 Handy Recorder which is its smallest, most affordable recorder ever. See where we're going with the small theme now? Good.

The H1 weighs in at around 57g but is still capable of crystal clear 24-bit/96 kHz stereo recordings due to the two onboard microphones being configured in an X/Y pattern. It's got a microSD slot on board so you can save your sounds and can record for up to 10 hours using a single AA battery.

Next up is the news that Sanyo has also unleashed a tiny sound recorder. The Sanyo Xacti ICR-XPS01M. Now the Sanyo may have a less catchy name than the Zoom offering, but it makes up for it with its spec.

It's less than a centimetre thick, it records CD quality stereo sound in Linear PCM and MP3 formats, detects and records multiple tracks automatically, saves files onto microSD card, has a touchscreen which eliminates unwanted noise when recording and it also boasts an FM tuner as well.

The Zoom is the cheaper option at just £67 and is out at the end of July. The Xacti will set you back £199.99 and is also out next month. You can also get a docking station to go with the Xacti. This will cost you another £50.
