It's 6pm and there's only one thing on everyone's mind - yes, that's right, Pocket-lint's app of the day. The one time when you know that all your worries will be cast aside, as you take a glimpse at what all those app developers have been working on so you can get the best out of your smartphone.
This time, we've chosen one for all you iPhone owners out there - and it's a beauty. Well it is as long as you like retro platform games.
Prince of Persia Retro
- Format
- iPhone
- Price
- 59p
- Where
- iTunes
This is no ordinary retro platformer, this is a legend in its time and a Apple II/Amiga/Atari ST/PC classic. Now all the fans of the original can relive those gaming memories as it's now available on the iPhone in all its glory.

Now it has to be said the adaptation for the iPhone isn't perfect, as the controls tend to be a little hit and miss, which when playing a tricky game like this can be frustrating. However this member of the Pocket-lint team has pretty big thumbs - not freakishly big - and so others may find that the controls are more responsive. The work around employed was to lay the iPod flat and tap with fingers, which worked well.

As we're big fans of the original it's possible that we're looking at this with rose-tinted specs - as mentioned the controls take a bit of getting used to, but grumbles aside the game looks to be a challenge and plays just like the original, so if you're a fan it's well worth a download.
