You know how we reported earlier about a rumour that Microsoft's Ballmer was to speak at Apple WWDC.
Well turns out it was all made up by the analyst Trip Chowdhry at Global Equities Research, presumably to trick us and everyone else who fell for it like an all too real April Fools joke.
To stop the rumours getting out of hand Microsoft has waded in to debunk the claims via Twitter.
"Steve Ballmer not speaking at Apple Dev Conf. Nor appearing on Dancing with the Stars. Nor riding in the Belmont. Just FYI”, said the tweet from the official Microsoft account.
Apparently Ballmer was supposedly going to demo Microsoft's development tool Visual Studio 2010 which is said to allow developers to write native applications for the iPhone, iPad and Mac OS.
Seems we've been punk'd as Ashton Kutcher would say. So should he lose his job? Let us know in the comments below.
Oh, and Ballmer on Dancing with the Stars (our version of Strictly Come Dancing), now that sounds like good TV.
