The New York Yankees won't take tablets

iPad banned from Yankee Stadium

25 May 2010 12:24 GMT / By Rik Henderson

Usually considered a tech-friendly baseball team, the New York Yankees have banned the use of iPads in the Yankee Stadium. Fans won't even be allowed into the arena with one.

The iPad falls under the team's existing ban on laptop computers, which says that it's a health and safety issue. Ironically though, each player has a computer screen in his locker.

Other Major League Baseball teams, including The Mets, Angels and Mariners, have allowed iPads into their respective stadiums, as the league's organisers state that it is a decision for each franchise.

There's no word whether UK footy teams will follow suit, but you wouldn't want to stare at a screen when the match is on anyway. However, we do reckon an iPad could enhance a day at the cricket; scorecard, player stats, etc. Are you listening app developers? We take 15 per cent.
