In order to bring you guys the latest news, previews and reviews of all things tech we sometimes have to get hands on with a product and test it to its full limits. If putting in that extra effort means that you, the readers, are better informed then we'll do it. We're just that committed.
So when we were invited to try Molson Coors' Home Draught we accepted, but don't think for a minute that we enjoyed it. Each pint we drank was part of a professional assignment and one that we carried out in a professional manner.
The Home Draught system is a ten pint plastic bottle of either Carling, Grolsch or Coors Light, with a miniaturised draught dispenser attached to the opening. Within the dispenser is a CO2 cartridge which, when released, will keep the beer fresh and fizzy for up to 30 days. Or so we were told - none of the bottles we tried lasted longer than about 30 minutes.
It's a bit tricky to get the hang of pouring the perfect pint, but after a lot of practice we managed to just about get the hang of it.
Speaking at the product launch, Mark Hunter, CEO of Molson Coors, said: “Home Draught has the opportunity to revolutionise the way we enjoy beer at home by offering consumers a new way to enjoy their favourite beer brands. We’re confident that it’ll be a big hit with beer drinkers across the country.”
It certainly will be a talking point if you get a couple in for a BBQ or maybe a World Cup gathering this summer.
They're available at Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Makro, Booths and Spar stores from next month. A spokesman told us they'll cost between £15 and £20.
