We doubt that the lack of an official, native, Facebook application would stop you buying an iPad, but it might annoy you a tad once you've unboxed yours on the 28th.

To bridge the gap until Zuckerberg's boffins get round to releasing one, why not try this, pretty swish, effort from social media aggregators Sobees.

It has all the functions that you'd expect from a Facebook app including status updates, comments, wall posts, videos and photo albums, as well as an optimised calendar for events and birthdays.

And what's more it's free of charge, at least until the end of May.
