Motorola Milestone gets Android 2.1 update

6 May 2010 12:47 GMT / By Duncan Geere

Motorola has announced on its Facebook fan page that it's released the Android 2.1 update for its Milestone handset. The update brings a host of new features, security and performance enhancements, and better compatibility with newer applications.

In a brief post, Motorola said: "UK Milestone owners - At last, the 2.1 upgrade rolls out today. Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy enhancements such as Speech to Text, live wallpapers, up to 9 home screens, and added security for exchange server users". The company then linked to the download page.

That's good news for Motorola Milestone users, but with Android 2.2 looming on the horizon, the joy could prove short-lived. Let's hope that Motorola gets its skates on there and is able to roll out a further update at a pace that matches Google's delivery of new software, rather than falling behind like rival HTC.
