Having a zillion remote controls for every device in your house is a pain. It'd be better if you had just one, but would it be even better if you had none at all?

That's the idea behind an infra-red sleeve for the iPhone that's paired with a special application. You slide your iPhone into the case, load the app, and then you just configure it by pointing every remote control you want to set up at it in turn, while giving that command a label.

You can save up to 20 different remotes in the app, and the case will also work to protect your iPhone from damage if you start chucking it around. The makers promise a string of updates in the future, too, which we hope might include the ability to have certain common devices pre-configured for you.

The iPhone Universal Remote costs £40 and it's available now.
