Sony has launched two new digital printers aimed at winning back some of the compact photo printing market from the likes of HP, Kodak and Canon.

Both new printers, which are aimed at digital photography enthusiasts use dye-sublimation technology for printing and support PictBridge compatibility when printing from an enabled digital still camera or mobile phone.

The 4 x 6 inch capable DPP-FP55 printer builds on Sony's FP50 model launched last year, but now includes a 2.0 inch colour TFT monitor, as well as featuring direct SD and MS/MSDuo card slots.

A “Multi-photo” option allows photographers to create composite images with up to 16 different photos.

The DPP-FP55 will be available from July 2006 across Europe.

Sony has also created a more "affordable" model without thte 2 inch LCD screen in the guise of the DPP-FP35.

The DPP-FP35 will be available from August 2006 across Europe.
