ViewSonic launches ViewBook 106 LED

Netbook with a 10-inch screen

It's been a while since we've seen a netbook announced by a a consumer technology company, but ViewSonic isn't about to let the format slide into obscurity in the face of competition from tablets.

The company has launched the ViewSonic 106 LED, which it labels as a "notebook", but we reckon fits more into the netbook category thanks to its 10-inch screen and 1.26kg weight. It runs full Windows 7, and is powered by an Intel Atom N450 processor. It's also got respectable battery life thanks to LED backlighting on that display.

Inside, there's b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, meaning that you can also hook it up to a mobile phone or pair of wireless headphones to transfer data or listen to music. It has 2 USB ports, a card reader, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.
