The Toshiba Camileo SX900 and Camileo SX500 join the ranks of Tosh's camcorder offering, bringing Full HD barrel grip models to the range.

Both camcorders are similar in design, but the SX900 trumps the SX500 on both dimensions and specs, being slimmer and offering a greater 9x optical zoom over the SX500's 5x (can you see what they did there?).

The Camileo SX900 offers Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution at 30p and 60i fps, with that 9x optical zoom operated by the toggle on the top of the device and has a 14-megapixel CMOS sensor, offering a 3 lux rating for low light shooting.

The Camileo SX500 has a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom and a 4 lux rating for low light shooting.

Both cameras features a flip-out and swivel 2.7-inch 230k-dot display and will take SD/SDHC/SDXC cards up to 64GB. They both also have HDMI out to connect to your TV.

Toshiba boasted that their camcorders come with everything you need in the box, so you do get the HDMI cable, but sadly you don't get the most important accessory – the memory card.

In terms of funky technologies, the new SX models come with face tracking and colour tracking, designed to keep focus on fast moving objects. They also offer stills capture.

Hitting stores in July, the Camileo SX900 is expected to cost £250 and the Camileo SX500 should be around £200.
