Microsoft releases Kin advert

Is it encouraging "sexting"?

Microsoft might be heading for a bit of a media storm, after it unveiled an advert for its recently-announced Kin handsets that depicts a young chap taking a photo of his naked body and sending it to a lady-friend.

The video's embedded above. It's reminiscent of the old Zune ads and pretty innocuous (if a little odd) until it gets about thirty seconds in, when a bloke sticks his phone up his shirt, snaps a picture of his naked chest, and then sends it to someone. The next shot is a young lady shaking her head and giggling, presumably at receiving the text.

You might think it's no big deal, but just wait until the Daily Mail or the Sun get a hold of this. They'll have a field day. What do you think, is Microsoft setting a bad example, or just having a bit of fun?

Update: Microsoft's pulling the ad. A spokesperson told Consumer Reports that "Microsoft takes the issue of sexting very seriously and it was never our intent to promote it in any way".
