O2 to bring back postcards

13 May 2004 21:57 GMT / By Stuart Miles

02, the mobile phone operator, is planning on resurrecting the flagging postcard industry by offering a service that will allow you to send 02 a SMS message with image, text and address details to them. Once your message has been received they will transfer the information to a paper postcard and pop it in the post first class to any address in the UK.

The service will be compatible with all 02 cameraphones and the 02 PhotoCards can be sent from anywhere were there is an 02 partner carrier.

It's not all rosy however, as the service will cost an expensive £1.50 per card plus the cost of sending the picture message. Bare a thought therefore for residents of llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch, in Wales, that must take ages to enter as an SMS into your phone.
