Facebook testing Questions product?

Being bucket-tested by some users

13 April 2010 17:08 GMT / By Duncan Geere

Facebook users are reporting seeing something new on their homepage - a section titled "Questions" that allows users to ask and answer inquiries from other users.

It looks a lot like Yahoo Answers - one user posts something they want to know, and other users are able to answer it. It's not clear, however, whether this is going to be pitched at regular users, advertisers or even market researchers. It's entirely possible it could be all three.

Facebook's allowed users to ask questions in the past, in its eventually-withdrawn Polls product. This feature looks like a more direct clone of features offered by other websites, however. If Facebook's testing externally, that implies that it reckons this feature might be nearly ready for prime time.

We'll bring you more on the feature when we're able to see it in action ourselves.
