Modern Warfare developers sign up with EA

Call new studio "Respawn Entertainment"

Modern Warfare 2 developers sign up with EA

Following the massive spat between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare creators Infinity Ward and the game's publisher Activision, the two former heads of Infinity Ward - Jason West and Vince Zampella - have created a new studio backed by Activision's arch-rival EA Games, called Respawn Entertainment.

It'll have an exclusive publishing deal with EA and the pair said in a statement: "For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We're very proud of what we built - and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again - open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA".

No details of those new games have been shared yet, but given the team's expertise in military-based first-person shooters, we'd be surprised if they started developing a pony-riding sim. More details on exactly what West and Zampella have up their sleeves for Respawn Entertainment as soon as we get it.
