Gears of War 3 leaked early

Thanks, bizarrely, to Justin Bieber

Oops. An announcement of Gears of War 3 has gone up on Xbox Live, surprising a number of keen fans of the game. No-one, including the developers, had previously mentioned the game as existing.

So what happened? Well, an announcement of the game was due to be made by Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski during an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. At the last minute, though, he was bumped to the following Monday to accommodate the schedule of round-faced teen popster Justin Bieber. All well and good, but no-one told the people responsible for the Xbox Live announcement, meaning it went live on schedule.

As a result, we now know that Gears of War 3 will be showing up in April 2011. There'll likely be more news in the coming days, but you've got little Justin to thank for this first nugget of info.
