At the moment Blu-ray seems like the essential purchase for the complete home cinema experience, and to an extent this is true. However investing in one means all those DVDs you've spent best part of a decade collecting are missing out.

This is where the option of a DVD upscaler comes in, or more specifically the Toshiba XDE-600 DVD player, which will upscale all your DVDs to 1080p and is on sale from Amazon.co.uk for just £59.95.

In Pocket-lint's review the player scored a whopping 9/10 and proved itself a worthy machine, giving you the ability to toggle through three different modes to get the best results: "Colour Mode tweaks blues and greens to give the picture a brighter and more natural look; Contrast Mode boosts the light/dark balance and makes detail in dark scenes easier to spot; while Sharp Mode improves the clarity of fine detail and edges".

Because of the XDE technology which cleverly only enhances the parts of the picture that needs it, the Toshiba DVD upscaler should give you a very decent all round picture.

If you fancy taking the plunge click through on this link, which will take you through to the Amazon site, and we'll have another tech deal for you tomorrow.
