Sony has confirmed that the hugely anticipated Gran Turismo 5 should be released this year with an October date expected after the company was pushed.

The news comes as yet another trailer of the racing simulator is distributed, showing quite stunning and frighteningly life-like scenes of a replay of a race of supercars. Doubtless there will be more news on the game at Sony's press conference in June at the E3 games exhibition.

This next version of the number one driving game dynasty has been slated since 2006 and will contain nearly 1000 cars - each perfect makes of the actual originals - and up to 70 track iterations to race them on. Should it arrive on schedule, GT5 would be the hot favourite for the biggest game launch of the year.
