Microsoft has realised journalists' pain around the world having to type out Windows Phone 7 Series and has decided to ditch it to save us all the bother.

What?

Actually Microsoft has really just confirmed that they are ditching the Series element of the Windows Phone 7 Series moniker. From now on it will just be called Windows Phone 7, after they probably realised that the Series bit didn't really mean anything and it makes it such a mouthful.

"Tis the season for Series finales. We've got one too - dropping the ‘Series’ and keeping the 'Windows Phone 7.' Done," the company tweeted from their official Windows Phone 7 Series, we mean Windows Phone 7, account.

Confused? You shouldn't be, the good news is that it's less to write or say as you wait patiently till the holiday's to get some of the new Microsoft phone OS.
