Nokia's Comes With Music not rebranding

26 March 2010 13:43 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Nokia has confirmed to Pocket-lint that it isn't ditching its Comes with Music branding in the UK, however is changing the name of the Nokia Music Store to Ovi Music.

"Nokia Music Store is now Ovi Music", Anna Shipley, head of communications, Nokia UK & Ireland at Nokia, told Pocket-lint before confirming that "existing Nokia Music Store countries will be upgraded to Ovi Music gradually during 1H 2010".

For people who are existing users of Nokia Music Store and/or Comes with Music, the transition will happen automatically, although the specific timing for the UK is still to be confirmed. Shipley claims the company's aim is to bring all 22 countries under the Ovi brand this year.

Nokia is moving towards the Ovi branding in a number of areas including maps with the recent relaunch of its mapping service to the Ovi Maps moniker.

As a quick reference, Ovi Music first debuted in Russia in November 2009 with the launch of Comes with Music. Since then Ovi Music has been announced in Malaysia and Middle East, and now India.

So Comes with Music is still around, and looks to be so for some time to come.

Rumour debunked.
