The Apple iBook store in the US will include around 30,000 books from the Gutenberg Project catalogue for free.

According to app site appadvice.com, a recent glance through the iBook store on an iPad during a demo showed that the iBook store, not currently announced for the UK, will include what appears to be the entire collection of free books to get people started.

The Gutenberg Project, which is freely available online is a collection of classic books that have fallen out of copyright due to age.

Gems include Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Dracula by Bram Stoker.

The website also found that most books will be on sale in the store for around $9.99.
