Want to join the Royal Navy? There's an app for that

The Royal Navy has turned to the Apple iPhone to help it recruit officers to sign up for duty.

The new app, which is available for free in the app store promises to create a series of challenges that simulate real life situations encountered by Royal Navy Engineer Officers.

There are five interactive missions, including training exercises and tasks which require the player to think quickly and make crucial decisions says the Royal Navy.

Games include having to fix the engine, prepare for a simulated missile attack or re-wire the radar system.

“We are currently looking for recruits who have a keen interest in being part of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines and feel that they need a new challenge", says Captain Mike Davis-Marks, Naval Recruiting, about the new app.

The app contains a link back to the Royal Navy careers website allowing those interested to sign up straight away.
