Sony has lowered the cost of owning a Vaio once again, with the launch of the Vaio M series mini notebook, or netbook to you and me.

The new entry-level model will hope to smash the perception that you need to be rich to afford a Vaio with an estimated price tag of just £300.

For your cash, which puts the model up against the newly launched Samsung N150, you will get an Intel Atom N450 processor, a 10-inch LED display and a 250GB hard drive.

Weighing just 1.3kg (with supplied 6-cell battery) and coming in black or white there’s also a Motion Eye camera embedded in the screen bezel for video chatting.

Other specs include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth plus three USB ports and Windows 7 Starter edition installed to get you going.

It's expected to hit the shops anytime now.
