Mac Pro getting Core i7?

New models inbound say rumours

12 March 2010 9:50 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Apple is expected to launch updates to its Mac Pro range, rumours on the Internet are claiming.

Stating what many believe is the obvious; Apple will add the newly launched Intel Core i7 chip to its top of the range desktop computers.

While nothing is currently confirmed, that hasn't stopped some reporting that the models will feature the Intel Core i7-980x 3.33GHz processor with TurboBoost to 3.6GHz and feature 6 cores and 12 threads of processing power, and a 32nm architecture that should make that video rendering go a little faster.

Stay tuned.
