Ricoh has announced the release of the Caplio GX, a 5-megapixel, 28mm-85mm wide-angle zoom lens digital camera. The list of features for the Caplio GX begins with the 5.13 effective megapixel CCD and large 3x optical plus 4x digital lens producing images of up to 2592 x 1944 pixels and large enough to print A3-size high resolution photos.

The 28-85mm wide-angle (35mm film camera equivalent format) delivers a 75-degree angle of view. The camera offers manual control of a variety of settings that include aperture, white balance, ISO sensitivity and exposure levels.

The Caplio GX is also incredibly quick. Like its 4 mega pixel predecessor, the camera holds the world's fastest shutter response time at only 0.12 seconds and start-up time clocked at 1.2 seconds.

The Caplio GX also has an impressive macro mode being able to capture objects just 1cm away from the lens.

The Caplio GX will be available from June priced at £279.99.
