Vodafone to slash another 500 jobs

Newbury headquarters hit by further cuts

10 March 2010 10:16 GMT / By Ben Crompton

It seems that Vodafone still has some way to go as far as cost saving measures as it is set to announce 500 job cuts from its Newbury headquarters.

After Vodafone shed 500 jobs last year Newbrarians working for the mobile giant could be forgiven for hoping that further job losses were behind them, but it seems that as part of a £1 billion cost-cutting programme redundancies will be inevitable, mainly coming from middle management.

Newbury and Vodafone have a long history together as the company was started there in 1982, reaching its height in 2000 when it employed 3500 workers within 62 buildings, the company has remained in the vicinity of the town since its inception.

The news of the cuts comes from the Times, and as yet Vodafone has not confirmed the job cuts. We'll bring you more info when we have it.
