Nokia has announced the launch of the Nokia C5, a new candybar smartphone.

The new model will sport the Symbian S60 3rd edition operating system and come with a 2.2-inch display and 3.2 megapixel camera.

Measuring 12m x 46 x 112mm high the small handset will come with a battery life of up to 12 hours talk time and the promise of 26 days on standby between charges.

Returning to a form factor that will appeal to many Nokia fans the new model will sport GPS, a microSD card slot and Ovi Maps, Nokia's free navigation software, already installed. A stereo FM radio and 3.5mm AV connector, and stereo speaker complete the package.

Available in white and warm grey, the Nokia C5 will be available in the second quarter of 2010 globally in Europe, Eurasia, SEAP, China and MEA.

The new phone will be the launch model for a new Classic (C) series of handsets compared to the entertainment and media-themed X-series, business E-series and "high end" N-series handsets.
