With a launch date not too far away, Pocket-lint's managed to grab some hands-on time with the new larger, bigger, stronger Nintendo DSi XL.

As you can see by the pictures above, the DSi XL really does mean XL in size, certainly compared to the original DSi.

From our brief play so far, that means the screen is big enough to use your fingers rather than having to rely on a stylus and that the screen is even bigger (well there are two of them) than the PSP.

Available in Europe on 5 March 2010 the screens of the Nintendo DSi XL are 93% larger than those of the Nintendo DS Lite model.

The new console also comes pre-loaded with Nintendo DSiWare software: Dr Kawashima’s: Little Bit of Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function, as well as the Nintendo DSi Browser, which enables you to easily access the Internet where ever a wireless internet connection is available.
