iPhone app passes Apple approval process

We just had word from We7 that its iPhone application has made it through Apple's labyrinthine approvals process, paving the way for its mobile music streaming service to finally launch on the handset on 1 March.

As previously detailed, the £10/month service delivers unlimited free streaming of tracks from We7's 4-million-strong catalogue, complete with offline playback and syncing of playlists that you've created on We7's website. It'll also remove all advertising. A version which just removes ads - with no mobile app - is also available for £5 per month.

For the time being, this is limited to just the iPhone, which will also mean that if you get a text message or email while you're listening, you'll have to stop the music, go and read it, then start it up again. Versions for Android and BlackBerry devices are promised "soon". When they arrive, we'll let you know.
