How much do you tweet? No really? It seems that if you do, you and your mates, family, friends, and dog do so much tweeting that between you you're sending over 50 million tweets a day, according to Twitter.

"Folks were tweeting 5,000 times a day in 2007. By 2008, that number was 300,000, and by 2009 it had grown to 2.5 million per day. Tweets grew 1,400% last year to 35 million per day. Today, we are seeing 50 million tweets per day—that's an average of 600 tweets per second", says Kevin Weil, analytics lead at Twitter.

The new figures from Twitter's analytics team, which is there to measure and understand growth, shows the huge growth of the micro-blogging service in recent years and shows why in November Twitter was found to be the world's top word for 2009 according to Global Language Monitor.
