Tech deals: Virgin Media offers EU Internet on the cheap

Broadband abroad

If you're a Brit travelling in Europe and enjoy the odd bit of surfing (we're talking the internet kind not the  wave) then it could be music to your ears that Virgin Media has a new set of mobile internet and mobile broadband "EU Travel Passes" available.

Basically, if you already access the Internet through Virgin Media then, when abroad, you simply send a message via SMS, and Virgin will hook you up.

For mobile internet (access via mobile phone) you'll be charged £4 for a 1-hour pass and £6 for 24 hours, whilst mobile broadband (access via dongle) will be charged in terms of data usage - 1 day (£10 for 10MB), 3 days (£15 for 15MB), 7 days (£30 for 30MB) and a 30 day pass (£60 for 60MB).

This service should mean a degree of flexibility when travelling abroad without the fear of being stung with a whopping bill on your return.
